The eighth-generation Civic sedan's crash test performance has been rated highly by both the U.S. government's NHTSA and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). IIHS awarded the sedan “good” in both frontal and side impact tests and listed the Civic as the second-best 2007 small car in overall crashworthiness. The Civic coupe was rated “acceptable” in the side-impact test.
